10. rhinestone restraints: These very feminine restraints are great for tiny canines. You know the kind that enjoy staying in thier owners purse. Think Paris Hilton or Nicole Ritchie for this typre of canine style.

9. Striped canine restraints: Great for any canine. Both male and female canines can benefit from a striped restraint. Another perk is there are many many different brand and color combinations that would fit into this category.

8. “Canine themed” Restraints: Who wouldn’t want Fido in a bone or frisbee themed restraint? These types of fabrics are some of the most popular in sales becasue it is a logical jump for canine accesories.

7. Choke restraints: While these are not the most popular, or even the most humane types of restraints, many owners see these types of restraints as a plus. A Choke restraint is good for badly behaving canine, or canines sinply run after every little thing they see outside.

6. Harness Restraints: A little better than a choke restraint, Harness restraints go around the full body of a canine. These types of restraints are really beneficial for larger canines, especially when the owner is a child or smaller person. harness restraints help tremendously with the walking of your canine.

5. “Snoopy” themed restraint: Everyone loves Snoopy and his pal Woodstock. This specialty restraint obviously looks the best on beagle, as sort of an inside joke, but Snoopy restraints can work on any type of canine.

4. “Batman” restraints: Both of my canines have Batman themed restraints, one in black and one in red. Again going with the well known childhood theme of cartoons, these kinds of restraints will make your canine stand out in a park and will get you a lot of attention and questions about the canine.

3. Spiked Dog Collars: Spiked restraints are mainly used to dress male canine, but every now and then you see a femme fetale canine who likes a little danger. Spiked restraints are perfect for the man’s man canine, such as Dobbermans or German Shepards.

2 Rainbow restraints: This type of restraint is perfect for an owner who changes their mind a good amount. It would be a versatile kind of design that would please both an older generation as well as a younger one. This also works due to the fact it would look good on any size or breed of canines.

1. Pink Dog Collars: Everyone should have a pink restraint for their canines, even the male canines. Pink is a nice soft color that symbolizes hope to many people. Even if your canine is a giant of a breed, by placing a pink restraint on them, people will think your canine is more gentle that he or she might be.

10. Spike Dog Collars: This is the perfect restraint for a bulldog. These restraints make your canine look tough and fearsome. An English Bulldog is the perfect breed for this restraint since they have a short and stocky body that is supposed to look tough. If you want your canine to look tough than this is the restraint for them.

9. Blue Nylon restraint: This is for any boy canine and will go with any breed. This restraint is cheaper than some others and can be used for any breed. It is the perfect restraint for those who just want a simple restraint for their canine. It is better than a spike restraint because doesn’t make the owner seem like they have something to prove.

8. Simple rope restraint/lead. This restraint is the cheapest and most often used by Cesar Milan and show handlers. It is great for any breed and anyone. It is better than the nylon restraints because it is so much cheaper.

7. Designer canine restraint: This is great if you have a small fluffy canine that you dress up. These restraint are pricey since they come from designers but it allows you to match your outfit with your canine. These are great for people who are very fashion oriented but can be on the pricey side depending on the designer.

6. Rhinestone canine restraint: This is great for small lap canines who are often dressed. They are sparkly and not too expensive making it better than designer restraints. They help add a little personality to a cute small canine.

5. Leather restraint: This restraint is for those who are sick of having their canines break their restraints. Long lasting and easy to maintain these restraints are great for working canines who spend their days at a farm. The advantage of them is their longevity and simplicity.

4. Choke chain- this restraint is great for those who want to have a little more control of their canines during a walk. If used properly it causes no harm to the canine and teaches them what is acceptable behavior. A Doberman looks great with these restraints since the silver chain contrasts with the dark color.

3. Pink Dog Collar: This is the perfect restraint for a female maltese since the white coat will make the restraint stand out. This is great for owners who dress their little princess and don’t want anyone to have any doubt as to the sex of their canine. These restraints are great since small canines often don’t like choke chains.

2. Restraint with pattern: These restraints are great since you can match it with your outfit or with anything else you like. They are available for both boys and girls and work great with any type of canine. These restraints don’t cost too much and are a great alternative to the simple pink restraint.

1. Illusion restraint: this restraint is great for people who have larger canines like labs who don’t behave well during walks. These restraints allow for more owner control over the canine and for those who don’t want to use a choke chain. These don’t harm the canine and are not too expensive making them the ideal restraint for canines.

Chai the Chuihaha

Posted March 2, 2009 by admin

Yesterday Rhonda found a little Chuihaha. Although I was initially against it, we had to take him in. He was small, cold and vulnerable and their was a blizzard on its way. I’m not that monstrous. It took about 2 hours to round him up. He was a little rascal to catch.

We brought him in the house and he was urinated on everything, at least when I was around. He was able to clear jump over the doggy gate and onto the kitchen table. He’s only a few months old and like 2 pounds. He doesn’t have any tags. We named him ourselves. Actually, she named him, Chai.

Now we have our own dog Scotty. He’s older. He doesn’t like Chai. He feels as if his love is in danger. Scotty doesn’t like to play with Chai.

We’re gonna have to give Chai away soon but Rhonda doesn’t want to. I know it. Even though she lies like she doesnt love the new dog.

Just look at her

(He still has his balls!)

She’s gonna be devasted when I wind up kicking the dog out even if we don’t find it’s owner.

Chai will be in a kennel somewhere. I’m not a 2 dog person.

Anyway, that is it. Good Luck Chai!

Buying Pink dog collars, rhinestone dog collars and spiked dog collar

Posted February 20, 2009 by admin

A dog is certainly man’s best friend. This is why you need to take extra care while choosing a dog collar. Today, the market is filled with various varieties of collars for different dogs. It is no longer regarded as a ‘just a strap around the neck’ but an accessory that gives a dog a personality. As a fashion statement dog collars are gaining popularity because owners like their dogs to look as fashionable as they are. Before you go ahead and buy a collar for your dog, spend a little time to find out all you can about the product. This way you can make an intelligent choice, which not only suits your pocket but one, which will be comfortable to your dog.

The most important factor in buying a dog collar is your dog. The kind of collar you buy largely depends on the breed of dog and its quality and color of its fur. Ideally you would want a collar that makes your dog look good. For smaller breeds you have the option of using brighter colors like pink or purple. For large and fiercer dogs, these colors would not compliment the dog’s nature. Therefore, blacks, browns and reds are more popular for larger breeds.

The next important factor to keep in mind is your dog’s temperament. Some dogs are more docile than others. Thus they do not require a high intensity collar. However, dogs in training would probably need pinch or choke collars. You need to be very careful about selecting these collars because extensive pressure can harm the overall health of the dog. The safest dog collars are the ones with buckles and those with a quick release mechanism. They do not cause your dog any discomfort. Owners with more obedient and trained dogs can afford to use these collars.

If you are a beach lover or if you have a pool at home then it is wise to get a nylon collar. It is best suited for dogs that are around water a lot. The most important factor to remember is how well the collar fits on your dog. Ensure that it is not too tight to choke or discomfort the dog. Experts say that there should be atleast two-finger space between the collar and the neck. If the collar is too loose the dog might be able to get it over its head in no time. This defeats the purpose of a dog collar. Today there is a wide choice of products to choose from. Electronic dog collars range from $130 and $1300. You can get a collar and leash set which match in color.

Pick The Right Pink Dog Collars

Posted February 18, 2009 by admin

You need to look at your best friend’s behavior before deciding which style of dog collar to buy. If you are taking your dog to a special event or to a special gathering and you want them to look really good try getting a dog hound collar and leash. For small dogs a simple flat collar will suffice. For larger dogs you might try a prong collar with a wide leather band.

If your dog loves water and water sports you should buy a nylon collar. Anything else will not hold up as well to constant immersion in water. Leather is ok but it will crack and age quickly unless it’s dried and polished after each dipping.

Some Dog Collar Types and their uses

Buckle collars are usually adjustable and do not tighten on your dog’s neck once fastened. Using a rolled leather collar avoids the chafing or hair breaking that can occur using flat collars.

Leather is an advantageous material for a dog collar. It is very strong, head wearing, weather proof and comfortable for your best friend. There are flat collars for dogs with shorter hair, and rounded collars for longer haired dogs. As mentioned above this is to stop breaking the hair around your dogs neck. Try and keep the dog collar as thin as you can while maintaining the strength for your dogs comfort.

Another type of collar that can also look fancy is called the Elizabethan fancy dog collar. This type of collar is for dogs recovering from surgery. Basically it is the funnel shaped and it goes over your best friend’s head keeps them from biting stitched wounds or surgery incisions. If your best friend does have to wear this type of collar there is no need to be embarrassed, you can make the best of it by painting it, or decorating it with colorful decorations, stick on synthetic gems or even ribbons!

Electronic collars are also called remote collars or shock collars by those that don’t like them. The idea behind these collars is to deliver an electric shock to the hound as a correction. A low-level shock is given at first but if the canine continues to disobey the intensity is increased.

It has been said that using an electric shock collar desensitizes the pet to the shock but they still prove to be effective training collars. Electronic collars should only be used for training and should never be used without a professional trainers guidance. Incorrectly used, these collars can ruin a hound’s self confidence, good will and any desire to work.

The head collar is similar to a figure of eight with a strap around the neck directly behind your dog’s ears and above his Adam’s apple. The second strap fits around his nose, close to the eyes and back of the lips. The straps are connected under your best friend’s chin.

The action of the leash when correcting your best friend is very different with a head collar verses any of the other training devices. So it’s important that you receive proper instruction on its use from a qualified trainer.

Most trainers use the pinch collar as a last resort and only for very short periods of time. As with the slip collar, attaching tags, tying your pet up and general unsupeervised use of pinch collars should be avoided.

If you take your dogs hunting dog Tracking systems are very helpful in finding dogs that are lost. Certain dog tracking systems also allow the dog handler or owner to determine what your canine is doing by using certain behavior systems that form part of the collar. You will be able to tell if a hound has stopped, is still moving, if a dog is barking, or if he has treed an animal.

One of the essentials of a dog collar is to make sure that it’s personalized and has your dogs name and your contact details on it. This will make it easy for someone to get in touch with you if your dog gets lost or strays.

It can also help keep your best friend calm in a distressing situation. Your dog is lost and while he may be amongst strangers, they will learn his name from his collar and he’ll feel less threatened if called by name.

Finally pick a canine collar that suits your dogs personality and size. A giant black leather collar with studs may not suit a toy poodle, or a pink ribbon style collar a British Bulldog. After all it is part of your dogs image so pick a hound collar that fits!

Pink dog collars, rhinestone dog collars and spiked dog collars - What you Need to Know

Posted February 17, 2009 by admin

Pink dog collars, rhinestone dog collars and spiked dog collars come in a variety of materials, colors, styles and even functions. There’s the obedience or choke collar, bark control collars, flea collars, and a whole array of just good old plain pooch collars. So which one do you choose? If you are taking your pooch to a special event or to a special gathering and you want them to look really good try getting a fancy dog collar and leash. For small dogs a simple flat collar will suffice. For larger dogs you might try a prong collar a wide leather band.

The dog collar market is swamped with conventional as well as more unusual types of dog collars. These serve a variety of functions and needs. As a pet lover and canine owner, you should know that different kinds of dogs need different types of collars.

What Type Of Dog Collar Are There?

Buckle Collars are pretty much just what they sound like, collars that are fastened with a buckle. They are typically made of leather or nylon and they are either flat or rolled. Buckle collars are usually adjustable and do not tighten on your pet’s neck once fastened. Using a rolled leather collar avoids the chafing or hair breaking that can occur using flat collars.

Quick Release collars are fundamentally flat nylon buckle collars with a plastic closure. This clip is similar to some luggage strap fasteners and makes getting the collar on and off a little easier.

Choke chains are metal chain links of various sizes with a ring on each. These collars should only be used while actively training or exercising your canine. This type of collar is usually sold by length, so ask for assistance when buying a slip collar.

Head collars go over your pets head but they are not a muzzle. While wearing a head collar, your a hound can still pant, bark, drink and eat, even bite! They should only be used for training.

If you have a very tight lead on a dog, the strap around the muzzle will push into its eyes, and that is as bad as a Halti which pushes into the eyes anyway. While some trainers will use flat buckle type collars, especially on puppies, these collars do not always provide the most useful control for more unruly dogs. For a very aggressive dog, the pinch collar can actually make the animal worse.

What Do I Need To Know About Dog Collars?

You need to ensure that your best friends collar fits well. Badly fitted collars, even pink dog collars and their incorrect usage may be harmful to your pet and in the worst case it can prove to be fatal. A properly fitted collar has at least a two finger width space between the collar and the neck of the dog but it should not slip over his ears.

If you don’t like the sound of clinking dog tags or if you worry that the metal tags will discolor your pet’s fur, then you can use a special tag pouch, available at most pet stores.

For hunting dogs certain pet tracking systems allow the dog handler or owner to determine what your dog is doing by using certain behavior systems that form part of the collar. You will be able to tell if a pet has stopped, is still moving, if a hound is barking, or if he has treed an animal. Pet tracking collars are used when you are out hunting with your dog. They can be used by houndsmen, upland bird hunters, beaglers, coon hunters, field trial (bird dogs) and hog hunting.

Finally pick a dog collar that suits your dogs personality and size. A giant black leather collar with studs may not suit a toy poodle, or a pink ribbon style collar a British Bulldog. After all it is part of your pet’s image so pick the correct one!

Finding The Perfect Pink Dog Collar For Your Pet

Posted February 11, 2009 by admin

When purchasing pink dog collars, rhinestone dog collars or spiked dog collars you will find that most stores are inexpensive and if you want it personalized most of the stores will do this for free. Most people when the move the last thing on their mind is to get a new collar for their pet with the correct information on it, so when moving make sure that this is on your to do list. When you own a pet it is your responsibility for their safety.

But, that is not all a pet owner is obligated to do. Aside from the identification of your pet dog, pink dog collars, rhinestone dog collars and spiked dog collars have become very popular because people like to show off their pets so collars are now fashion symbols for pets.

There are many pink dog collars, rhinestone dog collars or spiked dog collars to choose from, their varieties include leather collars, adjustable collars, training collars, shock collars, reflective collars and many other types. They are also ideal for training the dog. A young dog has a short attention span and may become uninterested with long, tiresome training sessions.

Dog training can be an intimidating task. The shock collar is only meant for dogs that have behavioral problems which have not been able to be curbed with normal non-electronic training methods. Dog training is an art, and like any artist you must pick your tools carefully in order to properly train your dog.

One of the most popular collars today is the metal choke spiked dog collar Many people like this collar because it pulls the dog reminding them that they can’t do what they want.

Collars come in all sizes they do this because each dogs neck is different, for example Shepherd and Dalmatians would need bigger collars because their necks are large and the size is between 14 to 20 inches. To correctly measure a collar place two fingers between the neck and he collar, if you can slip your two fingers in it is a good fit. Make sure the collar fits around your pets neck, your pet needs room to breath.

The dog has to feel at ease with the collar around its neck at all times. Sometimes your dog can have a big neck and a small head so make sure the collar is fitted snug and it doesn’t slip off. That can be dangerous.

There are many collars to choose from, like shock, harness and choke collars. Here are some facts and some ideas to consider if you are in the market to purchase a dog shock collar. Make sure the collar fits properly or the dog will not receive the proper shock. If the batteries run down in the collar the dog will not receive the shock and the collar is then useless.

There are many fancy type of collars, there are pink dog collar, rhinestone dog collar, spiked dog collar, leather and some even purchase gold with a match leash, some people go further by buying an outfit that matches. Collars range from practical to simple, from personalized to leather collars to give your pet that unique look.

When looking for a collar look for buckles that are well constructed, collars that are made of leather or nylon are usually good and they won’t fall apart or break.
